DP in this instance not meaning double-penetration but the acronym for American porn company Digital Playground. Being in the line of work that I am gives me access to as much free porn as I can handle, so rarely do I feel compelled to spend money on it. Digital Playground’s output however MAKES me want to spend money. Lord knows how they can inspire a girl who a. doesn’t watch porn for the purpose of “getting off” on but still thoroughly enjoys watching it and b. has no need to spend money on porn when I have it for free at my fingertips, to want to part over hard-earned cashish to watch people substantially prettier than me getting brutally fucked by burly men with exceptionally large penises!

Digital Playground makes porn that appeals to both men and women. This is not an easy feat! You can make porn that appeals to couples, you can make porn that appeals to men certainly, but porn that appeals directly and honestly to women as well? It is a rare treat.

I think the humour evident in their productions is a key factor. We’re not talking about the Carry-on-esque ‘funny’ you find so often in British pornography but actual genuine humour that still manages to be sexy. I guess it helps that they seem to employ stars somewhat gifted at acting. The trailer for Nurses (which you can watch here) was downright hilarious. Jenna Haze gets such a cracking line in the teaser that I only hope and pray it’s just as funny all the way through!

The other aspect of their productions that helps appeal to women is the fact that everyone is Hollywood-soap-opera beautiful. I’ve seen some right uggers in British porn and it baffles me daily how some of them are quite so popular. I have no confusion as to why men all over the globe crack one off over Stoya or Gabriella Fox. Even the men are pretty hot. Not my usual cup of tea (personally speaking) but they are beautiful men and can thus be admired. Danny Mountain especially…

Money is a key thing here too. It’s a shame that the UK industry just doesn’t have the finances to compete technology wise with the States. The money that Digital Playground funnels into it’s productions is staggering. But it shows. Pirates is a film I have yet to see (although a friend has promised a copy) so I can’t comment too much on it but it cost a whopping $3 million. I couldn’t even begin to tell you how many more million that costs than a British production. I think you can guess though. Pirates II: Stagnetti’s revenge supposedly cost an obscene $8 million. I think that whilst most men find it relatively easy to work themselves up, it can be harder for women. And it means that they appreciate effort a lot more. Anyone who’s going to pump $8 million and over 600 special effects into a porno is going to A LOT of effort.

So that ladies and gentlemen, is pretty much why I wish I was Celeste Denae- one of the youngest directors in porn and yep, you guessed it, works for Digital Playground.
