Adventures In Lomography #1: warehouse raves vs squat parties

12

I love October. Crispy leaves to kick about, the excuse to wear cute hats and gloves, the promise of *everyone* in fancy dress for Halloween… what’s not to love? It also kind of annoys me when people bang on about how we’ve skipped straight to Winter when clearly we haven’t. Autumn is my favourite season (don’t get me wrong, I love Summer, but she’s such a lunch-out at times) and I’ll be damned if I’m going to gloss over all it’s fun parts.

October is also the month were everyone tries to fool themselves into thinking they’ll have time to detox before Christmas. Yeh, like that’s gonna happen. All the quirkiest, bestest parties happen in October as people think that little bit harder how to make people show up at their event. Luckily, I’ll be taking my little lomo out with me to document.

Warehouse Rave: this one was in the darkest corner of an industrial estate in deepest Clapton. It was ‘Fairytale’ themed and had a ball pool. In which there were many ball-fights. Basically, it was brilliant. I’ve picked out my five favourite pictues from the night.

Squat Party: I went to a ‘Day Of The Dead’ party in Clapton and somehow found myself at a squat party in Elephant & Castle. If my memory serves me correct (I was pretty battered) the party was hosted by Is Tropical, who apparently used to live in a Toilet Factory. I mention this as you can see an amusingly places poster of a urinal in one pic.

You can catch Is Tropical playing at the Vice Issue launch tomorrow night at The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch.
