I always wanted to be Tippi Hedren
When I was really little me and my grandmother had a Christmas Eve tradition. We would stay up really late and watch whatever Hitchcock fiolm would be on. We watched some real classics like Vertigo and Rear Window but my favourite was always The Birds. I’m not really sure why this film appealed to me so much (bear in mind my nana passed away when I was about 10) but I really really loved it. Still do, very much so. Tippi Hedren‘s character was just so cool in her pea green suit and the way she just goes after this guy who fascinates her so.. it’s so brave. Odd but brave. Nowadays if a girl did that the guy would totally freak out. But for her she was just rich and bored and wanted an adventure. I love it.
The film is so beautifully paced and for me has this weird nostalgic feeling of love and family and christmas. And it’s now led me to say these words I never thought I’ve ever say: but fuck me do I want this Barbie Doll.
