Well, if you are social media agency Lean Mean Fighting Machine, probably quite a lot right now. In the biggest Social Media FAIL I have ever seen, this agency got a 14 year old girl to make a absolutely disgusting statement on Facebook which lead to her googling scat porn. It beggars belief.
Coco-cola comissioned this agency for a social media campaign for their Dr Pepper brand which ran along the lines of people allowing the agency to post embarrassing statements on their Facebook for a competition. According to The Guardian [link here], most of the statements ran along the lines of “Is it wrong to pee in the shower?” and other such faff that a 14 year old might find social suicide.
Sadly, for Coca-cola, a rather disturbed update slipped through the net….. “I watched 2 girls one cup and felt hungry afterwards.” Woah there nelly, did no-one and I mean NO-ONE stop to check these little statuses going out? Well, clearly not. I mean yeh, everyone’s sat down and watched it for… to use my colleague’s phrase… “shits and giggles”, y’know, otherwise the whole of YouTube wouldn’t be fucking flooded with lame-ass ‘reaction videos’ (*yawn*). I mean, besides the update being gross, you can’t fuck about with kids like that y’know.

I actually find the update grosser than watching 2 Girls 1 Cup. You may or may not know that 2 Girls 1 Cup is actually a trailer for a Brazilian scat-porn film called ‘Hungry Bitches’. The producer claims it’s not poo but chocolate but hey he still got sent down. [you can read about it all on wikipedia here] Anyhow, my point is, I have a feeling that Hungry Bitches has more in common with a really shit horror film that it does with any porno. Y’know, when you watch a really great horror film and it scares the bejesus out of you because there’s no crappy effects spoiling it? Films like The (original) Haunting are amazing because it’s all down on sound effects and the horror is only in your mind. Then in the godawful remake they put in loads of shit special effects and ruined in. Oh and they put in Cathering Zeta-Jones. That ruined it too.

I watched 2 Girls 1 Cup and didn’t hide my face behind my hands. I didn’t squeal or any of that girly rubbish. It just didn’t do anything for me…. in the same way as shit horror films do nothing for me you big bunch of perverts, jeeez! I’m just saying I find the thought of girls eating shit and vomiting it into each others mouths much more horrific than watching a representation of it. Same as I find the thought of someone feeling hungry afterwards pretty gross too. Imagination is a powerfull tool. x

What I fear is going to happen is that despite all the initial hubbub we will lose 6music. And it will be down to sheer laziness. People are happy to click ‘Join Fanpage/Group‘ on Facebook or happy to follow a Twitter account but when it comes to filling out a form explaining why we need to keep the station, people simply can’t be fucked.

Shit like that really annoys me because people have such shallow convictions. Either believe in something or don’t. Don’t fucking half-arse it. Now, this actually means quite a bit to me as I proper love this station and I’d be gutted if it went. Granted I’d get over it but I’d stop listening to the radio and nuture a mild hatred for the BBC for a while.

• Adam & Joe (sadly on sabbatical but it still counts alright).
• Weekly shows from people like Craig Charles, Huey from Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Jarvis Cocker.
• Being able to turn the radio on and hear Public Enemy.
• Being able to turn the radio on 2 hours later and hear Dolly Parton.
• Hearing fucking weird shit that freaks me out a little but still makes me glad that someone somewhere is playing it on a proper radio station (NB that’s mostly Stuart Maconie but hey).
• Being able to turn the radio on and not hearing Leona Lewis, N-Dubz, Cheryl Cole, Black Eyed Peas or any other sick-inducing pop.

I like random things on the internet and so when I spotted this Formspring thingy popping up on twitter I thought I’d try it out. I genuinely think I am addicted to Twitter. There are so many reasons to love it. I know not everyone ‘gets’ it and it does take a while to understand it’s full potential but once you do, a whole world of internetty wondrousness opens up.

• You can make random connections and have awesome conversations with people you are never going to meet. And, unlike chatrooms, conversations flow at *your* pace and end when you want without people thinking you rude.
• Follow the right people and you can see so many amazing/weird/obscure things floating about the internet. For example today i could not help but click on a tweet which read “Wow. Blind man has tooth implanted into his eye, restores eyesight. http://tinyurl.com/kkmqcr” How can you resist clicking something like that?! (thanks @bizarremagazine)
• Follow localised Twitter-feeds and you can find out about everything that’s going on in your city before your friends and look super-cool ‘cos you know about everything worth knowing about (eg. if you live in London you absolutely have to be following @LDN and @Londonist)
  
• You can stay in contact with people you no longer see and might just fall out of touch with otherwise. Okay, some might argue Facebook is for that but I have a lot of Facebook friends and there’s something delightfully intimate about twitter at times which allows a steady stream of contact with people who’d otherwise get lost on your FB mini-feed.
• You can voyeuristicly peek in on the adventures of people on the edge of your social circle. There’s something I really enjoy about hearing first-hand tales from their lives when face-to-face we might only exchange pleasantries.
• Retweeting is amazing. Not everyone gets it and a lot of people confuse it with (via @username). Read this insightful post to understand the difference. It’s still amazing though. Don’t worry if you can’t be fucked to read that, as soon Twitter are incorporating retweeting as an actual feature. Read all about Project Retweet on the highly informative Mashable.com (or follow them @mashable)
• Obviously Twitter is awesome for self-promotion. In fact a high proportion of my blog hits comes from Twitter. Way more than Facebook. Which says to me that people who don’t really know me enjoy my blog a lot more than people I do. WTF is up with that people?!
